The Last Bastion - Dust 1947 Batrep
« on: April 25, 2020, 12:59:13 PM »
I bring to all you a battle report that I have titled "The Last Bastion" where a small group of SSU units have been tasked with defending a bunker to the ultimate consequences, especially since it is going to be attacked by a formation of troops of the Axis commanded by none other than Generalmajor Sigrid Von Thaler.

Endless Axis Walkers: Hans, Luther, Ludwig, Lothar and Heinrich accompanied by infantry troops await the order of the beautiful Generalmajor to enter combat.

In front of the thin red line, but maybe not to thin due to the endless number of barbed wire, mines, obstacles and many tons of reinforced concrete.

It is the Hans who takes the initiative and proceeds to fire on the Tesla cannon squad.

Their rockets saturate the area but without causing damage, although the unit is somewhat suppressed.

The chief of the gun decides to pay the daring Walker with the same medicine and as soon as the cells are loaded he opens fire ...

... causing serious damage but without achieving any critical impact.

The cycle of destruction continues and after advancing the Lothar opens fire on the same unit.

Failing for a long distance.

It is now the turn of the self-propelled BT47-100, which opens fire from its camouflaged position.

Impacting the Lothar, but once again unable to destroy it.

Sigrid orders the rest of his army to advance.

What Heinrich and Lugwig immediately do

The command squad leaves the grove and immediately issues orders for the Lothar to open fire with their Nebelwerfers.

A cascade of shells falls on the Tesla cannon destroying the brave gunners and their piece.

Sigrid continues his advance ...

But the SSU's 120mm mortar has something to say to the Generalmajor ...

... and as a result the squad loses more than half of its members due to indirect fire.

Added to the combat cacophony is the "boom, boom" of the Luther's 50mm automatic cannon.

Aiming at the two Steel Guard snipers.

But both manage to escape the storm of gunfire and immediately gift Axis armor with several 14.5mm depleted uranium core shells.

One of them powerful enough to send little Hans to Valhalla.

It is the turn of the Heirich that shoots on the self-propelled cannon.

Leaving it pinned and damaged.

Sigrid has managed to get around the obstacles and the mines and is advancing on the bunker determined to end this at once.

In view of which the mortar barks again ...

... impacting fully on the Axis command squad.

The quick intervention of his medic manages to recover one of the wounded.

Now the Ludwig opens fire on the dragon teeth ...

... and manages to eliminate one of them. The passage has been cleared.

While the grenadiers armed with lasers penetrate the perimeter.

The final hour has come for the SSU's self-propelled gun, the swift staccato of the Heinrich's 20mm guns accompanying its destruction.

As Sigrid herself enters hand-to-hand combat with the Steel Guard Snipers, killing one of them ...

... and the Ludwig opens fire on the bunker ...

... although its walls perfectly withstand punishment.

The rest of the infantry reaches the wires and prepares for the assault.

The battlefield is suddenly silent. Embedded in his mysterious golden armor, the gigantic figure of the so-called "Winter Child" makes his appearance and immediately enters combat with Sigrid ...

... but the assault fails miserably. Who knows, maybe Sigrid has told him what really happened to Ivan Vasiliev's parents ...

The golden giant's doubt makes him hesitate, which immediately takes advantage of the command squad to open fire and cause some damage.

The Ludwig decides to try his luck with the bunker again ...

... but once again the impact does not make a dent in the fortification.

Still the assault continues and again the Heirich opens fire, this time eliminating the last of the snipers.

The laser grenadiers have also made their way to the rear of the bunker, catching the mortar crew by surprise ...

... those who succumb under an apocalypse of fire and pain.

But for Vasiliev the time for revenge has come and ends the lives of the mortar executioners.

There is no point in resisting, sooner or later the bunker will fall, but what is certain is that the Secretary General of the Sino-Soviet Communist Party will want to ask some questions ...
