I'm really saddened to hear about the passing of Andy Zeck. Andy was an amazing contributor to our hobby and I enjoyed many of his posts on LAF [Mod: unter the member name Suetonius Paullinus] for many years.

My thoughts and sympathy go out to his family. Rest easy Andy 😢😢

I would love it if all of us on LAF could do something in his memory.

I just read about his passing on facebook this morning.  I didn't know him personally but have enjoyed seeing his painting for years,  Such a loss to the hobby.

Not knowing him via Facebook, which name did he go by on LAF? We have quite a few Andys...  :'(

His profile name was Suetonius Paulinius. He had really distinct natural paintstyle, I also enjoyed seeing his miniatures, saved some pictures he posted to my inspiration folder -the others were not saved just because those were miniatures from periods I don't collect.  He often posted miniatures before the official release and that was the best kinf of promotion companies could get. Remeber seeing his paintjob in a discussion with some criticism about one plastic kit, and despite those critical comments were probably right and one could agree with them, after seeing the picture You could get the impression that it really doesn't matter as the miniatures could still be made into work of art.

(Edited as the first version didn't put emphasis on the though I wanted to share)

His profile name was Suetonius Paulinius.

Thank you for clearing this up. I took the liberty to amend the topic title and OP accordingly.

I didn't know him personally, but an untimely death is always a sad thing. Really liked his ancient miniatures.

Please keep this civil and appropriate, as suggested by the OP.

Really sad to hear that too. One of the original Warlord Games forum members I always enjoyed seeing his miniatures.
Rest in Peace Andy.

I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.

I enjoyed chatting with him on various forums over the years and always appreciated his distinctive painting style.

He had a way of making even very average miniatures look great.

Very sad news indeed.

I always feel that any words I can offer feel a little trite but my sympathies really do go out to his friends and family.

His work will of course be missed by us all on LAF.

That is very sad news.
Poor Andy. I met him a couple of times at Salute. A very quiet and unassuming guy, but a very good painter with a distinctive, gritty and appealing style. And always first out of the blocks with his painting of any new plastic figure releases.
His contributions and talent will be missed indeed :(

SP was an old mate from the Warlord board. His death has hit me, that's for sure. I know there's going to be a new release of great miniatures and I'm going to miss seeing him smash out wonderfully realistic paintjobs that make the models look like real people in the real world. We always shared a quick chat, pulled on our (in my case imaginary) beards and put some of the things in the world to rights. We've lost one of the good guys and the hobby is poorer for it. See you later mate.

I just read it on facebook, and I have to admit that for a person who didn't "know" Andy, this is hard. I've enjoyed watching his threads and tried (and failed!) to emulate his style for years now. Every time you saw a new thread in one lf the subforums by him you just knew you were going to watch yourself or you'd be on Empress buying a new project. A fantastic painter and always helpful to other forum members.

I think it would be nice if we did something in here in memoriam.

Got to know Andy from the old warlord forum, and later kept contact with him in other places, including here and facebook. On occasion we sent each other modelling bits to use in projects we were doing.

Loved his gritty painting style, most especially his early imperial Romans.

He will be missed. Rest easy Andy.

Very sad news indeed.  His painting style was wonderful and distinctive - you always knew from a glance whose work it was. He also seemed very personable and helpful on the various pages. Rest in peace.
