Infection Z - 29 May- It's almost there.
« on: May 03, 2020, 06:35:25 AM »
Last year I started writing a set of solo zombie apocalypse rules and got stalled by a combination of apathy, excessive detail and Chain of Command. Recently I started playing Rangers of Shadow Deep solo and was really impressed by the game and my idea of a solo zed game has been reignited. I decided to try converting RoSD to a post apoc situation. So I did and it worked and I tried a game. It looked nice and it worked okay but it was lacking.

I did a bit of a write up on my blog regarding the test game. Please have a read and any feedback or ideas will be appreciated.

Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Interesting concept and excellent execution. You make a good point about empty streets. That works for fast moving zombie but not the shambling hordes I prefer. I think you are on the right track although I have to admit I do not know the Frostgrave/RoSD rules very well.

PS... your table looks amazing!

Thanks Rick. I've been working of things a lot over the past week and getting things to a point where I've had a few test games and it seems to be working well. Still working on the finer details and much more play testing is needed.

Some recent additions to my survivors and couple of zed's that have been patiently sitting on my desk gathering dust for the past few months. All of these survivor figures are from Studio Miniatures. The zombies are from a Zombiecide box.

I've been working on and play testing my solo zombie game which I'm hoping to publish some time in the near future. I've been writing, writing, writing. I've played a bunch of test games, then re-writing and re-writing some more. It's all coming together and is looking pretty solid. I'm sending it out for some critique later today and, no doubt, that will mean more re-writing.

There's a lot more detail on my blog at: http://this28mmlife.blogspot.com/2020/05/more-painting-more-infection-z.html

As others have noted, that is a very nice board to play on with some nicely painted miniatures.  It will be interesting to see how you develop the solo rules.

I'm still working on my solo zombie apocalypse rules. I know there are others out there but these ones are mine. I've sent them to be proof read and looking forward to some practical critique. In the meantime I've been doing some more play testing and it's really coming together. All the pieces work and it's really a matter of tweaking and finding holes.

Wow!  Nice board.... I lie the Max Headroom bit in the bus stop.

I am always excited to see people trying their hand at rules writing.

Thanks Easy E.

I've been working hard to get the Infection Z rules together. A lot of play testing, writing and re-writing. Since my last post I've been knocking the whole thing into shape and putting it into a desktop publishing document so I can produce a nice looking pdf. Things are still not set in stone and liable to change, but it's about 95% there. It works. It feels right and it make a fun game.

Lots more on my blog @: http://this28mmlife.blogspot.com/2020/05/infection-z-its-almost-there.html

Instead of InDesign or something along those lines.... I just use PowerPoint and it works great!

I have not used Scribus.   I will look into it.  Thanks for the tip!
