Native American Buildings
« on: May 05, 2020, 04:12:24 PM »
I'm looking for some Native American buildings - woodland indians for FIW and AWI. I can only find the Grand Manner ones online, does anyone know about any others please?

I recently saw some unpainted Hudson & Allen AmIndian dwellings on the Noble Knight Games resale site. I recall one longhouse and one set of the three smaller dwellings.

Frank Lloyd Wright?

He was born in the US, and his designs show American architecture at its best....

Vatican Enterprises has some wigwams and long houses fairly reasonable priced:

I think these may be the Hudson and Allen ones mentioned above.

It sounds like you want cast resin pieces. You don't specify scale. Acheson Creations makes a variety of excellent longhouses, wigwams and stockade pieces in 15mm, 25mm and 28mm scales.

Craig Acheson also has a sale on until the end of May. I have a ton of his stuff. It paints up really easily and looks great on the table top!!

Yes, Acherson are very good in all respects.  Good product, good price and reliable and timely delivery.  I bought four longhouses.  I might get a frontier fort from him while the sale is on too.

I'm based in the USA and I just bought from a couple of UK firms - and, yes, I paid the now 'normal' premium on freight.  Should I boycott all UK companies because I have to pay freight?  The new normal is 30-40% of the total order cost generally.

Once upon a time, if you wanted something form far away the freight charge would be a multiple of the items cost, sometimes several multiples.  I really don't get the problem.  You want the product, you pay the price - and that includes shipping.

Maybe I'll organize all of North America to stop buying from off the continent, at least hobby wise.

Rant over. Off to Acheson.

I use the Warlord longhouses designed by Herb Gundt and they are very good.
I also made one myself a round one using blue/pink foam covered with crepe paper and green stuff for branches/rope.

Thanks for your help everyone - I was after 28mm.

I didn't know those Warlord ones existed, so I will look into those.

Apologies, Fifteensaway, I should have explained myself better. From a recent order to Acheson for which I paid the higher shipping cost (which I was prepared to accept) I also got hit for customs charges on top which from memory equated to a further 25% of the order value. I don’t know if this  peculiar to the UK but it is to be born in mind when ordering from overseas. It seems a quite random charge which you don’t know what it will be until the item arrives.

As you say if you want the product you pay the price. I just wanted to point out there were equivalent products available without having to pay the extra freight cost.
