I have just posted a blog update about my ongoing project. You can see it here:

https://theviaregia.blogspot.com/2020/05/the-guardsmen-of-amsterdam_31.html

In this update you can see the next characters converted and ready for paining, along with a bit of background to each.  Their backgrounds provide an interesting insight in to Amsterdam life in the early to mid 17th century. Here are three from this latest batch.

Absolutely fantastic painting.
Thanks !  :)

I've just seen an article on the BBC website which says that on Tuesday of this week the Rijksmuseum released a new hi-tech photo of the painting which you can zoom in on.
I'd just seen that - allows a super close up - zoom-in!  :o

Fantastic .
Thanks ! A full sensory experience  :D

Love what you're doing with the project by the way! Fantastic already.
Many thanks !   ;)

Very nice work. I must say my inner teen had a sly giggle at the title but as long as it’s between consenting adults, why not? It’s the 21st C not the 17th after all.
Thanks ;)

What I'm wondering, is how you're going to base these figures. It would be wonderful if somehow you could create a 3-D version of The Nightwatch, but how you would do that I don't know.

I had been pondering this for a while. I considered making a set diorama, but being a wargamer, I’ve gone for individual bases as I want to be able to include the figure in games. I do want to try and build a ‘set’ that the individually base figures can sit in to represent the painting in 3D but that’s still in early planning stages  :D

Thanks, Corso!  I think this is going to take me as long as Lützen despite have no where near as many figures  ;D
