General Pettygree's Back To Khartoum Adventures
« on: September 30, 2020, 07:28:52 PM »
General Pettygree has been engaged at Khartoum in 1884 in 54-60mm.

A very brief prelude sets the story here:

The main event: Battling Back To Khartoum is here:
https://generalpettygree.blogspot.com/2020/09/battling-back-to-khartoum.html

This is different lads. Der Alte Fritz built Khartoum fortress walls plus interior buildings for this game.
They are strikingly eye-appealing as are the Armies in Plastic 54mm Dervishes and various metal brands from Britains and other manufacturers.
Stunning models --- really.

Scaling ladders with ascending Dervishes, a gunboat, relief column, background scenery and....

The story is an easy/fast read because images are mostly explained by dialogue from personalities involved such as the Pettygrees, Lt. Grandmaison and others.
We think you will like what you see.

Respectfully,

Wonderful stuff, as always! Big lads, too. Not often you see that these days.

It would be churlish to point out that Khartoum had no walls, its defences were earthworks some distance from the city, so I'm not going to do that. I'll leave it to the kind of pedantic killjoys who so often inhabit our forums and comment sections.

I think manufacturers of middle eastern city wall terrain pieces probably owe quite a debt to Chuck Heston and his movie. I have a nice set of Khartoum walls myself. :)
