Mexican Uniforms
« on: May 20, 2020, 10:07:21 AM »
Anyone able to give me a steer on Mexican state militia uniforms, or if such a thing existed?
I'm reading Robert Watts "..Hair of a horses tail" on the Victorio campaigns and its got me going about the Apache wars again. Theres several references to Mexican local militias, but also a good bit of fighting from State Militias.
I cant find anything to tell me what they looked like - anyone able to point me in the right direction or do they just look like Mexican citizens going heeled? Would Pulp Federales/Rurales look out of place?

Thanks in advance

I think there are some good books by Mike Blake? One of the guys
who wrote the wonderful Western Gunfight rules. I would like to
see what answers you get, as I fancy doing some (early) Apaches
versus Mexicans. I was thinking of using some of the very nice
Boot Hill miniatures (Alamo range) for the Mexicans, but at a loss
for Apaches with lance, shield & bow. I recall some promise of
such figures here on LAF, but so far I have seen nothing definite.

Thanks Lads, that was quick!
Never seen those pics before Juergen, thanks, looks like I can dig my old foundry Mexican infantry out of the lead pile!
Has.been - thanks for the tip on Mike Blake. There's a couple of foundry apache that would fit what you're looking for but pretty limited in poses. I'm hopeless at conversions but maybe some of the woodland Indian or Seminole ranges might work with some greenstuff hair added on and leggings trimmed to high moccasins?

Anyway thanks again guys, that's got me on my way
