Converted 1/72nd - 1/76th jeeps to 15mm scifi Vehicles.
« on: May 18, 2020, 08:42:19 PM »
Hello again all,
I had these 2 Airfix jeep kits & another busted one and I decided
to convert them to 15mm scifi Vehicles.
Card was used for the various panels.
The new GZG gunners are excellent for this and I would
imagine they would be great for choppers , trucks etc.

The jeeps can be used as open topped, with a gunner and
also as a closed with a topper + turret / missile launcher.
Still a wip.

I decided to change the gun shields from card to credit card plastic which is stronger.

Thanks for your comments.

Wow! Those look great, again I am going to have to look into those scales, for conversions.

So of them also remined of convoy gun jeeps of Vietnam.

That works really well.
I guess scale creep means there is not much difference between modern 15mm figures and 1/76 scale, there is probably a lot more out there that would work. Airfix LVT Buffalo  for example.

Thanks
Yes WM they scream Vietnam. Could be a scifi vietnam or an alternate history one... come to think of it I never thought of that... interesting scenario.

Yes Robh , in fact those 2 green jeeps are from the buffalo kit , which is a future build.

More great work, Z. I always think of 15mm as 1/100 scale, but the scale creep comment may very well be the reason that 1/72 works perfectly well. I know that something like a Hotwheels car can be very all over the map for scale. A Hot Wheels motorcycle could work for 28mm, and a tank could look too small for 15mm. I'm always keeping my eyes open for stuff that could work for my purposes and just eyeball it a bit.

Thanks Cook,
Just put a key or something you always have on you next to a 15mm & remember which key it is.
The red one or the blue one ? ;) :D :D :D

Next time you're at the supermarket, just put the key next to the vehicle for scale.
