Faust's Fantasy Project w Pics
« on: May 23, 2020, 05:15:56 AM »
This thread will catalog my paint work on my new game coming out next year called The Sword Marches: Metal Sword & Sorcery Skirmish Wargames based on my Brink of Battle and Scrappers rules engine. You can download the free rules here:  https://www.facebook.com/groups/714808465525512/

First up is a figure I've been chasing for about 6 years. He's a Limited Edition Tom Meier Thunderbolt Mountain Elf King. Just got him finally about a week ago. Comments are always welcome!

I'm a big fan of this mini, and your paintjob really adds to the sculpt! I would have thought that the gold chain shirt next to the yellow cloak was a risky move, but you managed to keep them looking distinct from one another.

Kind Regards,
Rico

Great point Rico! I did have a dilemma between the yellow silk cloak and the gold chainmail, as well as making the chainmail normal color next to the Starmetal cloak trim....

That was a hard choice, but I figured that once inked the gold mail would be darker enough in tone to separate the materials to the naked eye, than silver chainmail would be next to the Starmetal formula I concocted. :)

I'll tell you, it took some hours of deliberation before I made my choice.  lol

Thanks for your kind words!

I find it agonizing to commit to a paint scheme for a hard to get miniature; I have an old Lord Soth that has been sitting unpainted for months, all because I spent so long tracking down the model that I didn't bother to actually think of how to paint the thing!

Kind Regards,
Rico

Funny you should mention that. I agonized over this one for about a week until it came together all at once. But my next batch of figures I've sat on for about a decade because I haven't seen the vision in my head until now. :)
