Xyston 18mm Republican Romans
« on: May 27, 2020, 12:58:09 PM »
I thoroughly enjoyed dragging these out of the lead pile and finally putting paint to lead, ten years after original purchase:

Terrific figures, even if they are on the large side of 18mm.

A couple more pictures here for anyone interested: http://tinmountain.blogspot.com/2020/05/15mm-republican-roman-pilum-armed.html

Nice!

I'm more partial to the Republican Romans and those came out a treat!

Beautifully painted  :-* :-* :-*

Are those hand painted shields?

I could be wrong but they look to me like the Xyston Republican Roman LBMS transfers Tim.

Thanks. Yes. the shield decals are by Little Big Men Studios. I wish I could paint that well free-hand!

At that scale all is forgiven  :D

I used to hand paint all of my shields and guess what? It took absolutely ages!!! I mean ages......   o_o  >:( I simply don't bother now though I still hand paint heraldry and livery colours with the odd standard/banner thrown in.

Thanks again for the kind words. I have now finished the Triarii so thought I'd add a couple more pictures to the original post:

Excellent work  :-* :-* :-*

Xyston are amazing mini's. I think they're the best 15/18mm mini's out there.
