I get the rules via Wargame Vault and i have a rule question.

When a Gang Boss have a Warchief in his CR.
Does this warchief received a die from him like a simple Punk/Wimp or he has to make his own throw ?
i mean : A warchief can be closer to the Gang Boss but can be usefull to reach the figurines too far from the Boss. So if he receives a die from the Boss, he can't be actived a second time to deal with these outranged figurines ?
  ???

Thank you for your interest
Eric

Thanks for your question, Eric. That would be your choice. You can either roll his die with all of those within the Gang Boss’ range, or wait and roll it with the ones with the Warchief’s range.

thank you mike for your fast answer.
will try some game tests in a near future.

i get my from Wargame Vault but i have some trouble with the pdf.
I have the cover and the back cover only in A4.
All the other pages are 2 pages in one landscape format
(example : pages 4 and 5 on the same A4 page like a booklet). So it's not very easily readable.
i told them but they answered me that they have only this kind of copy.
i don't know how it's work with them but does it's possible a give them a classical A4 version of this pdf ?
cheers

Eric

Hi Eric! That's really strange...I don't purposely create in A4. I wonder if that is something that happens on their end. What size do you want it in, and I will email you the files?

I'll go in and take a look at what is on their site for download.

Thanks again for the purchase!

Just wanted to say that I got the rules recently and really like them.
Not hard to learn and give a good game. I am thinking of also using
them for "gangs of New York" style with 19th century figures.

I would like to thank Mike for your help with the pdf trouble ;)

i have the following rules question for you, Mike :

A : As i'll test the rules in the ancient world i would like to know how to introduce the Spear as a melee weapon.
Do you think it's possible to give a mix of "Chains" and "Blades" traits :
i mean Extra wound if doubled score (Blades) and the Long length (Chains)  can engage an enemy not in base contact. (may be at one base range -25mm for round slot or 2" as per the rules).

B : If i understand the rules wounds mechanism, a figurine can suffers injuries until a triple result (meaning out of action) is obtained following a combat / shooting.
As each wound gives a -1 malus in melee/shooting table, sooner or later, the figurine will be outscored for an Out of action result.
Does it's right  ???

cheers
Eric

I think that is a great modification for spears, Eric. Definitely give it a try and let me know what you think. And yes - you described the effects of wounds exactly. Some gang members may fight on heroically despite many wounds (rolling well), while others may be knocked out of action quickly (rolling badly).

Enjoy! I look forward to your battle reports!

Weird coincidence, the name of the publisher is ‘First Command’ and the subject gang warfare. The largest and most vicious drug gang in Brazil is the First Command of the Capital (Primeiro Comando da Capital or PCC).

Most of their ventures are not something you would want to game although they did pull off one of the world’s biggest bank heists in history, complete with speed boats and heavy weaponry.

Good luck with the rules btw! Just don’t translate them into Portuguese or market them in Brazil, you might get an ‘interesting’ claim for copyright protection.  :D

Got the hard copy of the rulebook from Lulu, and it looks great!

This also reminded me that I hadn't seen The Warriors in forever, so I got a copy of the Ultimate Director's Cut DVD.    Super restoration with some chrome added for an opening narration and comic style splash panels between scenes that budget/time didn't allow originally.  A really fun movie, and the best screen adaptation of Xenophon's March of the 10,000!  (Well, there's just 9 of them and they only have to go 27 miles to get back home, but it's only an hour and half film...)

Thanks for the kind words, Cat! I was also completely oblivious of the March of the Ten Thousand references or parallels until I saw the director's cut, too. Glad you like the book. Feel free to post pics of any gangs you are building. If you're on Facebook, too, I also started a Facebook page for Mean Streets:

Thanks again!

Hey Mike, yes I'm on the FB group (Cat).

I will definitely be posting pictures of gangs.  I've got some old biker gang figures on hand that just need a little paint touch-up, plus two other gangs that I just started priming this afternoon, including Eureka's Kung-Fu School Girls.  Plus several more on order from Funky Skull.  And thinking of other conversion possibilities...

BTW, congratulations on doing a very nice integration of some of the core DBA mechanics into a skirmish game, this looks like it should play very clean and quick!

I really do need to order some of those Funky Skull figures. I came close twice before but always pulled back because of the price. Hmm...maybe with that money from the stimulus check??  lol
