Here is my latest modelling project. A couple of Scalextrix slot car Porsche 962's converted into Post Apocalyptic cars along the lines of Dark Future or Gaslands.

Part one can be found on the Blog.

I have two models on the workbench at this moment and the Blog will record my progress.

Stay safe.

Part two shows how I have started to paint the Scalextric slot car shell. The first car will be the Interceptor and I choose a blue and white scheme with ATF logos on the sides.

That is very interesting. I read your blog and wonder if you are really doing it just for the fun of doing it or if you are planning to use them in an actual game at last. Gaslands do use a couple of templates which correspond to 1/64 scale cars sizes. These would be a bit small, but I don't see a reason to scale them 100% up to use them with 1/32 vehicles. Gaslands is really fun to play and it's rather cheap too, don't hesitate to give it a try!

At this moment it's just a bit of fun and trying to repair cars that were otherwise destined for the scrapheap.

Today's update concentrates on the application of decals (transfers).

It would be fun to see a couple of Gaslands cars racing it out around a Scalextric layout. Not sure how the add on weapons would survive the inevitable corner blowouts though  :?

I agree, Once I have the cars running and some track, I'll try posting a couple of videos. -  I've tried to superglue and add fillets around the guns and add-ons - but like you (and my Wife) I'm not sure thay will survive a serious crash.

If only someone could resurrect the old TCR lane changing system, then work in some kind of bluetooth or wireless or whatever between the cars so that when you press the relevant button on the (new as old ones won't do it) controller it 'fires' at the enemy, or drops a mine on the track which can read it and other cars going over it get hit - once a car takes enough hits it is 'blown up - ejected from the track or stops moving. With todays technology this should be doable, I wish I had the know-how.

At long last the painted canopy has been clipped in place and I'm now just waiting for the new tyres before I can add the chassis.

Instead of updating work on the Porsche interceptor, I have detailed how I painted the plastic Scalextric track with acrylic paints as seen in the Gaslands game.

This is looking most appropriate for post apocalypse racing. I remember Machine Gun Joey Viterbo (Sylvester Stallone) driving a similar car in Death Race, although I liked Frankensteins (David Carradines) Corvette better...  :D

The new tyres have now been fitted and I've given the ATF Interceptor a quick test drive.
