I tend to forget how i paint things so this time im writting it down.

Undercoat: Umber

Basecoats as an overbrush letting some undercoat show through:
burnt siena for the redish tiles.
Hookers green for the shed and some random tiles on big roofs,
Paynes grey for some random tiles on the middle roof.

Highlight drybrush:
Mix burnt siena+yellow ochre+ naples yellow about equal parts (red tiles)
Mix Burnt Umber + naples yellow (hookers green tiles)

Final light highlight everywhere:

Pure naples yellow.

I  : :-* Naples yellow

I love it! You've really elevated the card stock terrain.

Are you planning on just sticking to the core set armies or are you thinking of expanding them/adding other armies in time?

Thanks mate glad you like it! Certainly saves the time of planning, texturing and painting windows, doors and walls! I added a base to it and its as far as ill go.

As for the rest i have to take it one step at a time ... But i have an unfinished skaven army back at my parents house and some russian foreforge  heavy infantry here that could be sorta Kislevites?

Priority is core set though. To get the feeling of finishing something. (Have a frostgrave warband to finish first)

Time for a progress report, nothing finished I'm afraid. You can see what I'm using as grassland tiles is carpet.

I'm doing some test undercoats and painting on 4 spearmen and making a second building (still from oldhammer townscape) but this time with a removable roof so I can put things in it.

The carpet tiles I've used before for Rangers of Shadow deep but I also cut some here to make Oldhammer style stepped hills. You can color the sides with markers too which is nice.

Nice work mate!
Thanks mate! It's always nice getting a little comment ^.^

Finished the test models, i think i like the git on the left which started with a white undercoat. It made the shield and rope easier to paint and the rest not noticeably more difficult. But im not 100% on a method yet.

Letme know what you think.

Yeah I like the guy on the left a lot. His 'belt' really stands out more and helps with breaking up the grey of the robe.

Are you gonna flock the bases or leave them with the (is that Dark Angel Green) paintjob?

Cheers mate, yes im going to base them but they are so short i dont want to use my usual mix it would hide half their legs lol!

And thats 'hookers green' Mon Marte satin acrylics. Maybe dark Angels green is Hookers green good to know!

I think ill keep the rims that color as a recall to oldhammer  :D

Very nice painting in those goblins. What did you use for the shadows on the skin? I'm seeing hints of purple.
I like the leftmost goblin best as well as his spear and rope belt pop the most. However, I like the dirty robes on the second from left the best.
Thanks for sharing your work.

Shure mate it'll help me remember too!

All the robes had a coat of dark grey (personal mix Matt Black, White ink and yellow) which i guess is a dark warm grey? Depending on base-coat I left some black showing or covered it all up. The one with the dirty robes had a wash of Vallejo smoke ink instead of Nuln oil like the others. Then I highlighted normally adding white to the original base mix.

Skin I can hardly tell myself unless I  look hard but I did use a different shade wash on each model: Reikland Fleshshade, army painter red, army painter purple and army painter soft tone. Basecoat was Vallejo game color heavy grey (which i find to be quite green ...) highlighted with white and yellow. One of those guys I highligted with white and electric blue ... I might do a combination of both on some characters to make em look more fun not sure yet it is more work and they are small.

Good, another recipe I won't forget ^.^

I guess I go for the white undercoated gob too - but they all look good.

Scatterbrain, those flock covered kids jigsaw mats are genius! I think I will steal that idea.

It looks like my daughters nursery might be lacking some floor coverage in the next few days lol

Hahaha you might want to reconsider scavenging your daughter's nursery! These arent flocked, they come with the carpet texture on them! Not sure how well flock would stay on them as they are VERY flexible! I'd share a link to a shop but I'm in China it probably wouldn't help.

This is taking longer than I remembered! Getting there little at a time.  Also wasted a lot of time messing with plaster of Paris for something unrelated. Climate here is making it hard no matter how I do it.

Progress on archer regiment and removable roof of second building:

Different colors on this roof for variety, not sure my chimney cover makes any sense but hey ... Its fantasy.
