Horse corral/ruined adobe house
« on: 05 August 2009, 04:39:48 PM »
Thsi is the latest addition to my town.

A slight diversion from the usual adobe buildings I have made. This time a corral built up against a ruined dwelling.

All made from the usual foam core, Polyfilla, balsawood, kebab skewers and those wooden sticks you get from Starbucks...

The barrel and watertrough are from Hovels and the cart is Front Rank. The figure is Foundry.

Here is the start of a longhorn steer skull which will be mounted on above the gateway.

Wheres the pesky kid saying " Hey Meeester! You wanna buyer the lady? Me got plenty sisters!"

Looks bloody awesome, just like the rest of town, but those steer horns need some work.

Really nice Malamute
Any more buildings on the "to-do" list?

Lots :D

Up next another house with walled garden and stable.

Then the biggest yet, the governors house, with attached barracks, balconys etc.

And then some peasant huts, maybe thatched jacales.

Very, very nice indeed  :-*

The only thing I would say is the water in the trough could do with bing a bit dirtier, unless of course it's refecting the sky colour, then no problem  :D

Can't wait to see more.

cheers

That, Mr Nick, is a damned fine looking piece of terrain. Lovely detailing. Lovely finish. Well done you.

Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh - or in the dust, as it were...  ;)

Beautiful piece of terrain. It's not just the execution which is brilliant (of course we've all come to expect that as a MINIMUM with your work now...), but it's the idea. The corral built in against the ruined adobe walls - consider the idea well and truly borrowed.

The painting on the adobe is great - really nice shading. And the weathering of the wooden parts is also spot on.

I recognise the Foundry figure too - is it Wild Willy Scaggs, the Scalphunter?

Really nice layout - works well. Still loving your adobe work!

What are u mounting your pieces on? It looks very thick. I assume it will be used as part of a larger board - not a piece to put on top of a board?
