Highlander (The Boardgame)
« on: July 01, 2020, 09:23:16 AM »
Quick little project done in four days, and some decent sculpts for a boardgame.
All done in pre-shaded contrasts but I had some trouble with the surface tension which I've never had before, its almost like I was trying to paint on gloss varnish the way they were acting, anyone else had this happen?

Never realised there was a Highlander game, but interesting looking figures (and great paint jobs of course).

What was the material.... some sort of hard plastic, or was it a more resin-plastic?

Ta, they are a PVC much like most boardgame minis these day but held some nice detail.

It's really a card game with miniatures but a decent "Beer & Pretzels" game

These look fantastic. I've just painted a couple of the figures from my copy (I dare not post them...they are very poor compared to yours). Out of interest, who is the chap with the axe? I only have 7 characters in the base game. Presumably he is from the expansion with both version included there?

On the TV show, Mathias was the oldest immortal and he was a Roman.  Therefore, I was surprised to see an Egyptian themed mini with a Khopesh.

Also, in the show, the Axe guy was some sort of Mountain Man type.  However, I do not recall his name and have no idea if the board game has any connection to the TV show.

I think the game is more based on the movie but they have added some additional characters. If I remember rightly, Caleb was the name of the mountain man who was worried people would "come for his secrets" (to take his knowledge via Quickening).

The Egyptian is Ramirez, the Spanish Peacock ("I'm not Spanish, I'm Egyptian!").
