Late Roman Army (Command figures added)
« on: July 01, 2020, 09:22:31 PM »
Found a few packs of Black Tree Design (EOE Orbis) during a clean out and had to get them painted up. The black and red shields are from LBMS and the blue and red are hand painted.

They look very good!

It’s hard to tell the painted shields from the decals in the pictures.

Oh yes, I was gonna say that too - really hard to tell the decals and freehands apart. very, very nice job.  Nice sculpts too. I'm a big fan of Black Tree Design's figures.

Those look fantastic, especially the hand painted shields!  I once tried painting that pattern, and could never get that stupid chicken to look the same on two different shield.  Great work!

Thanks everyone, I was very happy with the hand painted shields.  I usually can’t them to look that consistent and I honestly contribute it to buying decent brushes for a change.  I normally go with value packs and I will never do that again.

Good brushes make all the difference. What are you using?

Ta. I use Rosemary brushes as they're a reasonable price over here. Mainly Series 33. I do have a smattering of W&N brushes that have lasted for over a decade!  :o though not all have been that long lived.

Thanks for the recommend, I’ll check them out when I’m ready to purchase more brushes.
