Display case for a Mumak
« on: July 04, 2020, 01:40:26 PM »
I'm currently grinding my way through a Games Workshop Mumak kit. One day - probably a long time  in the future - it will be completed and I'd like to put it inside an  acrylic display case to keep it safe from dust (and the grandkids).

I was wondering if anyone uses individual display cases for large miniatures? If so, I'd be very grateful for an idea where they can be found. I have looked on-line but can only find ones which cost more than the model itself!

Thanks in anticipation of any suggestions.

Similar problem, only I am repairing one for a friend.
Her son made it, then it broke. No point fixing it (&
tarting it up) until I get a display case.
Thoughts so far:-
1)Ornament case, for a clock/stuffed animal etc. from a charity shop. No luck so far.
2)Case for plastic flowers. Have seen a few in garden centres, but they are flimsy.
3)Display case for a doll. Either expensive or very tall. Would work with something
also in the case, e.g. flying Nazgul or trees.
4) Small fish tank. Again size & shape are the problem. Some might work if I include
   some ruins.
Good luck on yours. Let us know if you have any joy.

Maybe a display cabinet, instead of just a covering for the model.

There is an aweful lot of plexiglass being used in stores at the moment.  Someday soon, I hope, that will all be coming down.  Then all that stuff will be (hopefully!) sold off cheaply.

Maybe you should get your name and number to a number of shops for theirs when they are no longer needed and hope at least one remembers to call you when they are taken down and then you just make your own.
