EVA armament
« on: July 10, 2020, 11:28:08 AM »
I'm putting together a small EVA force just a battalion and a battery so far.  Everything I've read says the EVA were armed with modern British rifles.  I'm guessing that means Enfields or possibly Mínie rifles.  Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not all of them were. Seems the majority had smooth bore percussion muskets, with a rifle regiment equipped with "Enfields or Dreyse Needle guns" (that's Osprey talking - don't know whether to interpret that to mean it is unclear which they had, or that they had both).

Plynkes is correct..figure rifle regt...had the better weapons early and maybe one rebt, had minies/enfields and the others smoothbores.but as time wore on the musket units were  armed with minies/enfields.Artillery was a hodge podge of 12 pdr smooth bore /howitzers .24 and 32 pd Howitzers and variety of coehorns..not to mention the guns of their River Gunboats and support ships .I finished painting my EVA army last year .Plus Canton Coolie Corps .Also the unit of Manilla men ."The Devils Soldier" by Caleb Carr is the best book on the subject. It;s been out since the 80;s this is a fun army .

I will Juergen, thanks again.  The tower muskets info' is really worth having. Most secondary accounts seem to have missed that.
