Metal Primer
« on: July 12, 2020, 09:53:07 PM »
What is a good, gray colored primer to use for metal figures? I am currently using Taimya primer, and it has worked well so far, but on a recent set of figures it started to come off along with the paint.

If you're in the UK then Halford's Grey Primer is a good choice. Good value and a sturdy product.

Seconded. It’s good stuff, comes in a big spraycan, and works out a lot cheaper than ‘hobby’ brands like Citadel or Army Painter.

I use hardware store red primer (various brands) and it seems to do the trick - they also have flat black and white and, I suspect, a gray primer (tried gray ages ago and didn't care for it so not up to speed on that color).  There is also a range of dead flat camo paints but can't think of the brand at the moment, Ace Hardware carries it, but no gray.

I wonder if you sprayed white and black at exact same time if you could get a gray primer!   lol  (Don't recommend the experiment.)

The colonies? If you are in Canada then I recommend Canadian Tire's Armor Coat: link.
