Fuel Containers, 1/56
« on: July 14, 2020, 05:29:27 PM »
Can any of you folks point me to a reasonably cheap supply of fuel containers, they're needed for vehicle stowage and fuel supply point vignettes.
Ideally I would like to get hold of the early war pattern British ones, as well as the German or typical later allied 'Jerry' cans.
Most stowage sets have a limited number of fuel cans - so buying an Allied Rubicon stowage pack is a pretty expensive way of buying the fuel cans, and anyway that set is not obtainable at the moment on their website. The best value I can find is a Warlord pack of six Jerry cans for £3.
Any other ideas?

Don't know about 1/56 but the cheapest option for quantity is probably the Tamiya 1/48 sets.

Maybe there's a 3d printed option someone here is aware of?

Die Waffenkamer sells stowage sets that include plenty of fuel tins.  Note that if you're in a hurry, Jeff can sometimes take a while to ship an order. CAD$7.5 for 80 bits of stowage:  http://www.diewaffenkammer.com/accessories.html

Company B sells German and US fuel cans, 9 for US$5:  https://company-b-models-and-miniatures.myshopify.com/collections/accessories/products/accessories-afv-stowage-german-jerry-cans

But of course S&H from North America to your location will add to the price!

Anyscale Models produces British flimsies, water cans and cans in 1/56. insanely cheap too.

Of course if you want Jerry cans, I'd second the recommendation of the Tamiya 1/48 sets. Cheap, beautifully detailed (separate handles) and there's half a lifetime's supply in a box. You get bedrolls and stowage as a bonus.

Can second the utility of the Tamiya set.

Thanks guys  :D
some really helpful suggestions there. I was unaware of Anyscale models Carlos, and those cans are perfect for a little 8th Army fuel dump.
Will look for Tamiya ones on eBay ...

I second Anyscale Models. Cheap, cheerful, spot on and great service. My orders always show up in about 7 days, and I am on the West Coast of the colonies.

Some lovely stuff on the Anyscale website dbsubashi  ;D
I ordered today and somehow by the time I was done the fuel and ammo containers had been joined by rubble sections, factory plant, graves, and a knocked out Opel Blitz!  8)

Or you can simply make a push mould, and make yourself as many as you need...as and when.

Eclaireur, I have been eyeing the wrecked Sherman’s and various British trucks (wrecked, ruined and/or ready to drive) from Anyscale for a while, to recreate Market Garden scenarios.
