We revisited our Great Antipodean Adventure campaign last Monday. On the night we tested an updated set of A World Aflame rules, these rules have so much promise but also a few 'issues'. We swapped out the activation and morale rules for this trial, it was a resounding success we ha no issues with matching units off when activating and no book keeping was required when morale testing were needed. The replacement rules came from a VBCW set, Went the day Well.

Okay the situation...Sunday May 29 saw the whole of the Sydney city centre engulfed in rioting and flames when all the rival factions vying for power clashed! The fighting raged all afternoon and as evening drew close the tired survivors began to withdraw to their base Suburbs. During this period clashes continued as these determined groups came across each other! Fig Lane Park was the scene one of those clashes. Colonel Gout's New Guard Company stumbled into the Brown Jackets of the Citizen Captain Lightfoot's All for Australia's 101st Peoples Battalion, trapped between these two riotous mobs was Senior Sergeant Roy Turner's Constables!

The objective of this game is to exit as many units off the opposite table side to their entry, VP's are gained for each unit exited, there is a 10 turn limit (adapted from the Men Who Would be Kings rules).

The AAR...
Both sides came onto the battlefield advancing on wide fronts.
The action started on turn 4 when the first shots were fired, the New Guard got the better of this exchange!
Turn 5 saw further advances and a couple of casualties from fire.
Next turn the New Guard's leading unit lose control and they first taunted and then engaged the Constabulary who were guarding a checkpoint, the police replied to this provocation and fired on the New Guard inflicting heavy losses!
At this point with both sides getting closer a bloodbath ensued as the firing increased and a melee raged near the checkpoint!
Turn 7 a New Guard lunge to exit the table began, it was stopped on turn 8 with much carnage. The rest of the New Guard meanwhile retired the All for Australia League forces in hot pursuit!
On the final turn the All for Australia side just fell short of exiting a unit while their commander, Lightfoot was shot dead while leading from the front!

The game ended in a bloody draw with no one managing to get a unit off the table while both sides took staggering losses!

Some pictures...

Both sides excitedly rush into action!

All for Australia volunteers led by a hard core Brown Jacket advancing...

Senior Sergeant Turner's men open fire on the New Guard in self defence the result is devastating for the new guard!

The six figures in the foreground of this picture are troops from the All for Australia side just falling short of exiting the table at the end of the game, the six figures behind them are from the New Guard trying to stop them!

The full AAR with pictures and scenario details are on the TSOG Blog...

Fantastic work as always, Darling!

I've just picked up that IHMN Curr's Cutthroats pack for the fantastic rifle and shotgun models. Mine will be part of my Worker's Militia however  ;)
