Wargaming WW2 in a Weird style (updated 4th December)
« on: July 22, 2020, 10:16:59 AM »
I am playing a weird ww2 campaign  following the adventures of Sargent Reickhart and his unit, a 101 airborne group of soldiers, across a Nazi occupied Europe, fighting nazis and monsters at the same time...

I made a post on the background, and another on the rules I am using (a reskin of Rangers of shadow deep), and at this moment I have made 6 AARs of games played, and the story is getting weird...

I'm making some kind of narrative games, similar to those of pulp alley, rangers of shadow deep, and many others where the underlying story is the backbone of the campaign.

Expect Nazi zombies, werewolves, vampires, summoned demons, cultists... And if course, nazis...

Have a look, and I hope you like it!!!

A friend told me to tell you what the blog I'm working on is about, so that you know what you are going to see before clicking in the link...

I'm used to play wargames alone, so, I have started to develop "narrative" skirmish wargames, that's it that I play stories (borrowed from other games, rpg, films or made up myself)...

I'm tired of the usual "you deploy in this side, I deploy there... Let's kick some asses", and I look for a story to work as the backbone of the game I'm playing.

Nothing new, you may see it in pulp alley, rangers of shadow deep, arkeo obskura... Or any rpg...

So, in my blog you will find stories, stories that I'll be playing and showing to all of you... Always in the Weird side of history (I'm in love with call of cthulhu/pulp/weird ww2 settings)

Up to now, in the blog, you will follow the adventures of Sargent Reickhart and his unit of paratrooper belonging to 101 airborne in a Europe occupied by nazis and monsters...

These are our heroes, and we will follow them as they fight monsters...

Nazis with evil plans...

Beings from other dimensions...

And of course... Zombies... Nazi zombies...

All these pictures are from actual games that I have played along this campaign, and full AARs with pictures are in the blog.

I'll keep playing and updating this thread for those interested...

And of course... Hope you like it!!!!

I do like your blog, have it bookmarked for further reading.

Especially liked the Dog Soldiers episode - one of my favourite 'corny but great' films.

Thanks a lot for you support, I hope you enjoyed reading the Reports.

Weird ww2 is a blast, but not everybody enjoys it, I love to think of it as a horror/action movie, with scenes, plot twists...

I'm planning some games more, not only in weird ww2 setting, but also pulp in a call of cthulhu style

This looks awesome.  I have a German army for Konflikt '47.  They will be great to use with this.  What are you using for scenarios?  Are you just using the regular scenarios from the RoSD books?

Thanks everybody for your support!!!

For weird world war 2 I used several Rangers of shadow deep scenarios, also some homemade (the bunker, dog soldier...), and others are adapted from different rpgs (never going home, weird wars...)

You could use all the Rangers of shadow deep scenarios with a little twist to fit www2.

My intention is to continue playing weird ww2, but I wanted to change a bit and play a few pulp games.

I have thought of some scenarios that are going to be cool, but I want to finish before the Pulp campaign I'm playing.

Keep weird!!

I'll be back...
