Gettysburg 1863 The 2nd Day - Sickles' Salient
« on: July 27, 2020, 01:13:44 PM »
Much to the wife's disgust, I've been playing with myself in the house again...  Here's a solo game I did a few weeks ago of Sickles' Salient, using Brigade Fire & Fury 2nd Edition and 10mm figures:

Cheer Ray!

I don't know if you'd followed the link, but somewhat astonishingly, the Rebs hoofed them off the Little Round Top on Turn 1, through a combination of appalling defensive fire from the Bluebellies, astonishingly good offensive fire from the Rebs and the pattern then repeated in the melee!  :o

Had it not been a solo game, there probably would have been tantrums from the Union player...  lol

However, it was all for nothing in the long run...

Sorry, I tried the link but for some reason it was taking forever to connect... so I wasn't able to see the report.

I was thinking, "how the hell did those boys run up that ridge and push off those Blue Bellies on turn 1. Then I noticed some Rebs up on the ridge to the left of the Yanks....

 lol

Yeah, sorry.  I need to change provider. :(

Yes, Law's Rebel brigade started on the Big Round Top and could only (just) reach Vincent's boys on the Little Round Top if they rolled a 'Double-Quick' on their initial manoeuvre roll (in Fire & Fury, morale and movement-rate is combined as a single roll), which of course they managed and then proceeded to get the best of every possible die-roll that followed!   :D

What a brawl!
And the glorious general led the advance
With a glorious swish of his sword and his lance
And a glorious clank of his tin-plated pants. - Dr. Seuss

What a beautiful game and table. I think secretly your wife wishes that you would set a table up like that in every room in the house. I know it might in the way of the telly, but you could always throw that away :-)

The link loaded fine, even on my steam powered contraption. I'm glad it did as that's just how a game of sowjers should look.
I'm so impressed/inspired I'm off for a private moment to play with myself too.

;D

Thanks chaps, but Mrs Fawr would definitely not appreciate me playing with myself in every room in the house...  :?

Not again, anyway...

Re 'textbook manoeuvres'... The only textbooks that bear any relationship to my tactical ability have a lot of pictures and not many words (which are in big print).

Re the connection speed: For some reason it slows to a crawl on a random basis for perhaps 20 minutes or so every couple of days. Sometimes it does it a couple of times on the same day and emails me an error message. The provider says it's nothing to do with them, while Wordpress say the same, but it's one of 'em!  >:(

If you're on BT that has been happening throughout the UK all week. I thought my new-ish laptop was kaput a few days ago- happily not so :)

I'm on BT, but not had a problem here with my internet access.  The website's had this problem right from the outset and if I were running a business on it I'd be annoyed, but it's only a hobby, so I'm just mildly peeved.  I think I'll change providers when it's up for renewal next year and see if that changes anything.
