« on: August 06, 2020, 03:39:35 PM »
Hello,
What are the best Crimean War miniatures? Are there any new miniatures coming out on the market?
Thank you

Pendraken?

Though if you want a model of the Balaclava train, you may have to go down to 6mm and visit Irregular:

In 15mm Minifigs and Irregular are both good ranges and they mix well with each other.  I'm not aware of anything new on the horizon in 15mm.

What scale? If 28mm then Great War miniatures sold through Northstar are a fantastic range:

Examples- Brits:

Examples- Russians:

Examples- French:

Any gaps could be supplemented by Wargames Foundry's range:

I hope it was 28's that you're looking for after all of that  lol

Yes. I should have stated that. Any word regarding Ebor miniatures?

Ebor are nice figures in themselves, scaled to match Foundry and so smaller than Gt War and Warlord? They are detailed enough but the range is very limited, which lets them down. They are cheaper than Foundry, so a good economic option for buying regiments of foot, to which you can add artillery and guns from Foundry.

I have Gt War British infantry, cavalry and artillery and Warlord plastic Russian infantry and metal artillery and Gt War Cossack and Russian skirmishers. I find the ranges mix well enough. I really like the plastic Warlord Russians and it was these becoming available that really got my Crimean project off the ground.

I would defer to Emir of Askaristan as I have never actually had any Ebor mini's ion my hand to compare with GWM and Foundry.

Please don't get the impression that the GWM Crimean War ranges are giants like say Redoubt; they are not :)

See below. Not the greatest pic but I'm doing some basing at the moment so it's a "live" shot!

Foundry Cossack. Ebor Russians, Gt War Russians, Warlord Russian.

Ebor are closer to Foundry there's only a big difference between first and last.

I started with the range from Wargames Foundry years ago.  Have added figures from Gt.War.  Both very nice figures and work well in the table top.

I hadn't realised that there was such a height differential between the four ranges. Personally, just for the quality of the sculpts by Dave and Ally I'd go with Great War Miniatures. Just personal choice :)

I'd think I would do the same. They have great sculpts and a very extensive range. Both being fundamental requirements for me to start a project.
