Takeaway buildings
« on: August 11, 2020, 02:13:10 PM »
I literally mean takeaway buildings!

These are all plastic takeaway food containers. First, they were lightly sanded. They have had a coat of textured paint applied to them. Once dried, they have had some plasticard windows (from eBay) and some doors from Antenocitis Workshop added. Lastly, some weathering and flock to make them look weather-worn.

Perfect for an off world colony somewhere!

Great use of leftovers  :)

I’ve got some of those AW doors, so many uses for them.

If you were looking for any extra tweaks, or to add variety to future models, how about adding a bit of clutter to the roof tops...a rusty metal square hatch, box-like aircon unit, communication gear, or even a bit of discarded tarp?

Likewise, it’s relatively easy to breakup the flat space on the walls with a square bit of card representing some sort of gadget, maybe with a bit of wire/cocktail stick running down from it to the base.

No criticism meant, just offering a few extra ideas  :)

Great minds and all that...  :)

I should have mentioned it in the original post. The roof tops have a slight rectangular indentation, so I'm cutting some card to fit the indentation. Then I'll add some clutter to it - already got some aircon units and comms unit painted up.

Great stuff! I love it when I see scratchbuilt terrain made from "free" materials saved from the tip.

Classic upcycling  :D

I've dug out some GZG 25mm stargrunt figs recently and am debating if I want to paint em and use em or just flog them off.  The rationale for the latter being all my terrain is 28mm+, but this gives me an idea to knock out a quick off world colony farmstead or similar...  :D
