Any suggestions for Zona Alfa vermin figures?
« on: August 13, 2020, 09:50:35 AM »
I am building up figures for Zona Alfa, and I am looking for suggestions for vermin?

I have some elderly Citadel plastic rats/bats/grots/spiders, but they after rather cartoony and not in theme.

I just wondered what other people are using.

Worlds end publishing have some quite gnarly rats in their small This Is Not A Test line.  I have three from my original book order and keep meaning to get another pack or 3 but international postage...  :?

Otherworld, possibly?

I considered the old wizards d&d prepaints but some are shockingly expensive.

Thanks.

I did notice that Anvil do some rats in their basing range.

I wondered if anyone has any experience with them?

Not with the rats per se, but I have got quite a bit of Anvil stuff, including the small scenic bits (bottles, candles etc) which were all cast beautifully.

I can also recommend Anvil. I've bought quite a bit of their stuff and it's all been excellent.

It's not big, or clever, but let's do it anyway

Thanks, I will give them a try (I had been looking at some of their Regiments range for Rebels for my not-Star Wars http://ultravanillasmurf.blogspot.com/2017/06/anvil-industries-martian-orbital.html).

Big fan of Reaper Bones figs. I've also had luck buying Zombicide miniatures off eBay. Both are an inexpensive way to bulk up on Vermin.

Reaper Bones giant rats are pretty nasty looking - they bake good mutant plague rats

I like to peruse old Dreamblade and D&D plastics - but Reaper is always a good option as well.

For some otherworldy vermin, how about the Hive Larvae from Elhiem? 20mm scale though, but could probably still work for 28mm too.
