Sarissa Ruined City set

Interesting variation on their terrain tile system.
The above set up is 400x200mm (16 X 8 inches) with the tiles interlocked.

I assume you will be able to buy additional etched flat tiles.

God, that’s awful.

As a standalone piece? Not the best. I prefer it to some of the other mdf offerings however.

Not everyone has the time/talent/inclination/space to store fragile resin carefully.

I find it hard to believe this won't sell well, especially once there's a few more modules available.

I am unfamiliar with the world of Frostgrave but I presume it’s set in a vaguely Islamic setting where the inhabitants have a preference for building with concrete breeze blocks. Interesting.

One thing though...

Quote
This architectural element was particularly important in Gothic architecture. It first appeared in Indian architecture and Islamic architecture as a way of making more decorative windows and doorways, but in the 12th century it began to be used in France and England as an important structural element, in combination with other elements, such as the rib vault and later the flying buttress

Of course there is no excuse for the hollow columns, unless there is a stacking option we are unaware of.

I want to like it (any new options for terrain should be welcome) but IMHO it’s not up to the standard of recent releases by Sarissa.

The “breeze blocks” obviously touch a nerve, and could so easily have been capped, but the set just feels a bit ....lacking.

Whenever I look at MDF buildings I think “could I make that quicker/cheaper myself”? In this case, there isn’t anything that makes me want to click on the “add to cart” button.

Sarissa is trying but I have always been dubious about MDF ruins.  Even dressed up they still look like MDF ruins to me.

Snot a Goffic arch tho innit?

I dun read me Road to Oxiana As a lad so I am quite familiar with the stylistic tropes of Islamic architecture.

Some of their stuff is quite good, most is at least on or above par for MDF, but  that th8ng really is pretty piss poor. IMO MDF has it uses and can be dressed up if the model is meant to be stucco, concrete or planked timber but MDF is far from an ideal medium for stonework or brick.
