Homage to Hammers
« on: August 15, 2020, 01:05:10 AM »
For a decade I have been a fan and member of Lead Adventure Forum (LAF) which has earned the reputation of being the site of many of the world’s most creative and talented miniatures’ hobbyists.  Among those talented and wildly creative people is a man from Sweden who goes by the name Hammers (Peder Hammarskiold).  His humor, talent and imagination have inspired my own work for years.  Several years ago, the creator of Lead Adventure Miniatures commissioned the creation of 28mm figures representing several of the talents that have made Lead Adventure Forum the respected site that it is.  Not surprisingly one of those 28mm figures is Hammers.  Hammers’ influence on my work can be seen in my Pulp Egyptian archeological dig (pictured here) which was inspired by a similar vignette done by him that he drew from the Tin Tin adventure Cigars of the Pharaoh.  Hammers’ caged animals in “Chicken Race on the Arumbaya” inspired a similar scene in my African adventure collection (also pictured here).  His creative mind and ability to bring a smile with the unexpected place him very high on my list of those who challenge me to go beyond the obvious when putting together my collections.  With all that said, today I sat at my workbench and painted the Lead Adventure Miniatures’ version of  Hammers.

Television is rather a frightening business. But I get all the relaxation I want from my collection of model soldiers. P. Cushing

“Chicken Race on the Arumbaya” is one of my favourite bookmarks/topics and when he re-visited it a few months back, I was rapt to get a notification of more comments/feed. Don't game that style but loved reading/viewing the progress.  ;D
Cheers,

“Chicken Race on the Arumbaya” is one of my favourite topics

Indeed! Always something amazing when Hammers shows up in that thread.
