Removing paint from Heroclix
« on: March 21, 2007, 03:57:11 PM »
Anyone got any ideas about how to remove the paint (and glue) from Heroclix miniatures ?
I have found that a VERY aggressive liquid monomer can do the trick, but I really do not want to do this very often, because it seems to be quite unhealthy.

What about the glue the guys at Wizards of the Coast used on them? This stuff sticks like hell to the soft plastic they are made of... :x

I just spray undercoat over the paint.
Never removed the glue either, I cut them off of the base with a sharp knife.

"Uh, I better look in the manual... This book must be out of date. I don't see "Prussia", "Siam" or "autogyro"...

Just re-undercoat the figure and repaint it, that's all I do

i've never repainted the heroclix figure, but i have tried some 1/72 plastics and had the paint flake of with use - as the plastic is so "bendy".

with that in mind, i would go with everyone else and advise to leave the original paint on as a binder and primer suited to that type of plastic.  it seems better than going through the effort to strip and clean, paint ans then have your work flake right off.

I have multiples of him with the intent to one day repaint one.

I'll get him along with a bunch of the new Golden Age DC heroes.
