(Commercial) 3d printable Bridge District LAST 12 HOURS
« on: September 01, 2020, 05:45:51 AM »
Hey all, I've got another 3d printable set of files up on Kickstarter. This time it is an expansion on the City with a bridge district, but it can be used as a standalone set too. Doing pretty well so far with about 10 goals unlocked.

Thanks, Kieran

If only I had a 3d Printer

^ Yup. Owning a 3d Printer makes one a 3d printer tech, not my skill set. A friend recently referred to mine a "boat anchor" and it's so accurate I couldn't even be mad.

That looks really nice and great for skirmish/rpg games.
Below is a link to my blog. It's the place where I write uninteresting things about little toy soldiers. I do this because I refuse to grow up and behave like an adult.

Thanks :)
Printers are getting easier and easier to manage but yes at the moment there is some know how involved. Luckily there are great groups out there to help people when they encounter trouble. (which is still me)

These look great.  You have some real skill there.
Clearly, if you already have a 3-D printer the tarrain is cheap.  To buy a printer purely for terrain makes things a bit more expensive.  I see the real value of 3-D printing is the sheer variety of what you can get rather than the price.

My son-in-law to be has a printer.  How onerous would it be to ask him to print some of this scenery?

Your whole city looks amazingly good, including these.

I don’t have a 3D printer, I’m a antediluvian tech illiterate with no desire to learn how - but I’d quite like some of your buildings lol
What’s the quality of the finish like?
The problem I see with a lot of 3D printed models is the dreaded striations, more or less visible, but almost always there, as the layers of medium (what is it? Kind of liquid plastic? Resin? Nougat? ;)) are laid down.
Would be interesting to see close-up shots of the quality of the finish. (Or does that just depend on how good / expensive a 3D printer you are using, and / or the quality of the print medium?)

Presumably there are (or will be) 3D print shops, where you can take your purchased files for pretty much anything, and say ‘please print that out for me’. Although I guess that’d be an expensive way of doing it...

Anyway, you’ve created some very nice looking and desirable models. Impressive  8)

Yes a lot does depend on the printer and how long you wish to wait for the print to complete. I usually print at 200 microns which is quick and not too bad quality but you can still see the lines, Resin prints better than plastic and show the lines a whole lot less, sometimes all but invisible but that is more expensive as well, usually better for just miniatures. I have people that buy licenses to print my stuff, but I've not yet seen it up on their sites so couldn't tell the price.
I definitely takes a bit of practice learning how to get the best out of your printer.
The bonus of it is it is passive building once you have the files, so just click a button and go so making multiples isn't a tedious job.

I only got into the because I wanted a tower to use for playing with sellswords and spellslingers, then my wife convinced me to sell them. Since then my hobby job is steadily getting closer to my day job salary and I only spend evenings and weekends on this stuff.

Thanks for the comments :)

QFT, to my eternal shame...  :-X

The designs look superb though, and combined with  the rest of the city designs, I'm sure this could fill a 6x4 table easily by now... 8)
Miniatures you say? Well I too, like to live dangerously...

Well the bridge alone is about a metre long at it's shortest (saying that a goal has just been reached to give the option of having a shorter set of steps going up instead of the ramp) :)
