Compatibility With Britannia's 28mm Congo Range?
« on: September 03, 2020, 07:33:40 PM »
Hi All,

I'm considering starting a small African project using Britannia's 28mm Congo range. Do any other makers work size-wise with it? I'm interested in both mercenary and Simba/rebel types. Thank you for any help!

I have some of the Britannia Congo mercenary blokes, as well as the Mongrel miniatures set. The Britannia are the biggest height wise of all the 28mm I have:

That Mongrel chap has had his base built up a bit as well...

From memory, The Assault Group figures are a little shorter but meaty enough that they can be mixed with booster bases. I ended up using Tiger Miniatures colonials (Hottentots and Cubans) as Simba's. Not perfect, and not great sculpting, but they scaled well enough

Thank you both, that's extremely helpful. Yes, I'd heard the Britannia's were rather large, which is one reason I asked.

Ash, that photo speaks volumes. "A picture is worth a thousand words," and all that. Thank you.

VLD, I appreciate the Tiger Miniatures suggestion. The Hottentots especially, as they could provide more rifle armed riff-raff types.

Appreciate the help, gents!

The Empress IndoChina French troops also look the part mercenary types.
The Bigeard cap heads (DBP29) are excellent & the wide brim hats (DBP28) work well for Katangese Gendarmerie.

The Mike Bravo range would fit great but they don't seem to be available. I managed to get one pack over a year ago but since then the owner didn't answer any emails. I really want his African Paras.
I am going to build a wargames army, a big beautiful wargames army, and Mexico is going to pay for it.

The Chiltern Vietnamese are a good fit too for Rebel types, you would have to swap heads is all.

Thank you both. It's a shame about the Mike Bravo figures.
