No but I would like to. Figure availability is the issue. Grenadian PRA can be proxied using Eureka’s ZANLA with some judicious head swaps and the Rangers could be made using existing Vietnam US Infantry, albeit with 20 rather than 30 round mags but nobody makes suitable figures for the 82nd Airborne.

The former Mongrel range of Marines for Beirut work almost perfectly for the Marines but the Marines saw comparatively little action, despite what Clint Eastwood would have you believe. Bizarrely Special Artizan figures ran an unsuccessful Vietnam kickstarter that would have made ideal Rangers but despite the figures being sculpted and examples cast were never released.

Fascinating conflict, despite the mismatch in forces employed, as it’s a virtual benchmark in how not to stage an invasion. So ineptly planned and executed the US was lucky not to have earned a much larger butcher’s bill.

BTW pretty much everything is available in 20mm and 1/72.

Yeah I keep on waiting for Underfire mins to release their PASGT 1980s US infantry. Could also use their M1 helmet 70s/80s US infantry, and concert to taste.

Those Underfire minis are an odd mash up. Post 1986 weapons (M16A2) and yet no PASGT. Probably accurate for someone, somewhere, possibly National Guard but weird choices/ poor research IMO. The 30 something year old Revell and Italeri plastic sets are more accurate. Christ, I hope they do a  better job with their BAOR.

Yeah, National guard, or rear area dudes. My folks in the air force were still rocking M1 helmets tell the gulf war kicked off. Then they got K-pots.

Fear naught Comrade Commissar. Mid 80's US Army in PASGT are on the list for December 2020's commission & I'll be doing the whole lot, well 16, in one go. Enough for a platoon, with a pltn cmd pack, two fire team packs & a light support pack for starters.

In other 28mm news...

Under Fire won't be doing 28mm BAOR. Empress will be though and the sculpts that have been done look very nice.

Yes, they should be carrying M16A1's, not M16A2's. My bad.

My first commission in 2021 will include Cold War Danes.

Regards,

Bill Weston.

Again! Great to hear. I need to finish up my VolksArmee so my wife won't get mad when a new box of lead arrives.  lol
(she doesn't mind the hobby, but is not a fan of stacks of uncompleted projects.)
