Airborne of Shadow Deep Campaign [Updated 9/28]
« on: September 11, 2020, 07:18:38 PM »
So I was looking around for some Weird War II solo rules.  I came across tereydavi's awesome Airborne of Shadow Deep rules.  I haven't had a ruleset get me this excited in quite some time!  I love RoSD, but am tired of playing in a fantasy setting.

So, I've decided to start a campaign using the ABoSD rules and blog about the missions.  I'm going to use the RoSD missions and scenarios with some minor tweaks.  For example, all Gnolls will be Nazis.  I think this will fit pretty well.  All the other monsters in RoSD will work within ABoSD.

So here's the link to my first posting.  I want to get the setting right so it draws people, and more importantly me, into the campaign.

I haven't painted any miniatures since March.  I just haven't been "excited" about anything lately.  I've tried to get back into mini games, but nothing has sparked my interest.  But once I came across ABoSD, that all changed.

So you have totally been successful in my eyes.   ;)

The main rules are just Rangers of Shadow Deep.  This is a solo fantasy game made by the Frostgrave creator, Joseph McCullough.

Airborne of Shadow Deep makes some changes to the rules and brings it up to WW2.  These rules are created by Tereydav.

Check them out.  It's a great WWW2 set of solo rules.

Meet the Major and his Commando squad.

The Reverend Lacey has assembled a team of commandos to explore Umbra Adâncă and the Thule Societies activities in the area.

You can read about the team at my blog.  https://fat-old-gamer.blogspot.com/2020/09/major-lacey-and-his-commando-team.html

Intriguing - I do mean to pick up ROSD primarily for its solo playability and the very positive reception it's received in general, even though I'm more of a sci fi player. I have recently picked up Planet28 for similar reasons!

Nice painted goodies there, I will keep an eye on your progress! :)

Are you meaning running Weird War 2 with the Planet28 rules?  I picked up P28, but haven't looked into it very deeply.

Reverend Lacey received word that a local informant has gone missing in a local town.  Him and his commandos got to the location and things just didn't seem right...

I'll be doing another AAR later today.  This is just the teaser picture.  ;)

This is the Scenario 1 Mission 1 from the Rangers of Shadow Deep rulebook.  I don't need to change anything from the original scenario as everything will work with Weird War 2.

"Hey Sergent."
"What?"
"Have I ever told you that I hate spiders?"
"Most people hate spiders, Captain."
"No, you don't understand.  I REALLY hate spiders."

AAR 3 is coming soon!

Great games! Look forward to following future games.
I'm going to need a SWAT team ready to mobilise, street level maps covering all of Florida, a pot of coffee, twelve Jammie Dodgers and a Fez!
