80s-90s Greek (Hellenic) army Jeep/vehicle crew in 20mm?
« on: August 18, 2023, 10:51:20 PM »
Recently, I found my dad's old military tunic in my grandparents' storage room, and I have a WWII Willys Jeep from Italeri, in 1/72, laying around. He'd mentioned they had those when he served (yes, he might've been referring to the M38s but whatever :P) and, well, I felt inspired and so I thought to paint it in our version of MERDC and get some crew figures for it.

The only problem is that, of course, no one makes modern Greek military figures (in 20mm, no less). There is a company making decals for Greek army vehicles (LM Decals, for those interested) so they've got me covered on that end, but I cannot find any figures.

To make matters worse, I'm in the EU and I'd love not to pay import duties, so I'm somewhat limited in my choice of manufacturers - but of course, if I find something that fits very well and I like the look of, I'll have to stomach the fees. Beggars can't be choosers  :D

I'm trying to at least find some stuff that I could make work with some paint-conversions, or some slight greeenstuff work, but I'm stuck. Vietnam US Mutt passengers, or maybe 80s US passengers for a Humvee? M1 or PASGT helmets (not sure when exactly we made the switch, and I'm sure it was a pretty gradual one) are fine, as for the clothing, in that scale it's pretty much whatever, the figures are gonna be sitting down anyways I suppose. Figures in just caps and fatigues are also totally fine by me - these are a bit more universal/generic, too. Zero success with any of those so far, but I'll keep looking and, of course, any recommendations are appreciated.

Do you guys think WWII GIs could work with some paint-conversion, maybe adding some pockets with greenstuff? At least they're wearing M1 helmets... Of course, none of these have the FN-FAL rifles but I'll just have to not use figures with weapons/make them out of greenstuff.

Any other ideas for figures that might work? Or even any actual Greek figures (I'll be very surprised if there are any)? I understand it is a tough subjects in regards to availability that I have chosen (to be fair, we had a metric fuckton of different vehicles so at least in that regard I can basically just use whatever - BMPs, M113, Leopards, M48s, M60s... not so much with figures). What other armies used similar gear in that sort of time period?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry,
I cannot think of any European manufacturers or retailers.

I think Matt is used to selling to Europe.
