28 is a digital magazine that focuses on unique and personal projects of the Warhammer hobby (the kind of things like Inq28, AoS28, Mordheim, Necromunda, etc.; lots of conversions and narrative skirmish gaming). It is released bi-annually and, as an entirely not-for-profit venture, is completely FREE to download. Volume 3 has just been released this morning.

Yes, cheers for that. Some great articles regardless of whether you are or (like me) aren't into the GW world

The photography is very good, often artistically done. Comments related to specific pages in the third issue:
  • p. 64 can also recommed the Goodwin dwarves (from Viking Forge)
  • p. 104-111 a good article on tools, as is the one on p. 194-197
  • p. 118 I have seen skaven cavalry riding giant rats, a skaven hero riding a rat-dragon, even a whole team of WW2 themed Blood Bowl skaven complete with a Mickey Mouse svastika banner, but do not recall ever seeing a Skaven titan before!
  • p. 185 as per official canon, Space Marines buy and use slaves, including apparently slave wives/concubines: "Christos sold himself into slavery and was bought by Ultramarines", "Dexter was born to one of the chapter's female slaves and, according to a tradition that all such children belong to the chapter [became a space marine]" (White Dwarf 97, p. 46-47)
  • p. 188 contrast the language of 'idiot' on topics known to be controversial with large portions of current Western citizenry and voters with the magazine statement on p. 2. - anyone else see the contradiction?
  • p. 218 an interesting article, do truly hope '28'[mm] does not become a popular name for this art style for sake of larger miniature community - and would be willing to pay for GW to diverge their product lines from this '28' art style seen here and there from circa 1993 onwards.
