Oh that's just smashing, loving it. I just did a garland of flowers around a figure's head myself. Didn't turn out as nice as yours, though. Seeing that makes me want to scrap it and try again.

Where does that card come from, by the way? (I'm afraid I don't know who or what Rider Waite is) . I really like the art, though not as much as your reinterpretation of it.

Edit: Never mind that question, I googled it. :)

Lovely work, especially (as has been said) the added touch with the flowers.

I must admit though, I expected a very different VIII when I clicked this thread!  lol

Ah, so you understand how nerve wracking that an be then. :)

I took fine silver jewelers wire and made a rough ring.  I tested it, and was lucky that this figure's hair was sculpted in a way that it had a nice place for the ring to fit into place with some support.  Then I made a little jig in my vise, and shaped the ring properly on that:

I wrapped the needle with scotch tape so paint and glue wouldn't stick as much. Then painted the wire ring green. Once that was dried, I cut up little bits of my foliage with a few leaves and a bloom on each section into a bowl. I tried to get as big of pieces as I thought would work so there would be fewer tiny glue joints.

Trying not to sneeze over the bowl, I used a small glue applicator to put a bit of glue on the ring, and then stick some flower bits to it with tweezers. Some bits worked better to put glue on my palette to dip the flowers+greens in it, then smush them on the ring. Anyway, I worked around the ring, and really only ended up with one spot with no flowers, so I added the purple flower directly onto existing greens, let it all cure, and then snapped it back on her head. Last thing was to do a little pruning of some bits that were unruly and sticking out strangely.

All in all I'm quite happy with it.

Thanks everyone for all the kind words. = ]
