28mm Italian Partisan project finished
« on: October 09, 2020, 06:14:34 AM »
Some time ago I gathered suitable miniatures for a 28mm Partisan project, inteded to use with Chain of Command, my favorite WW2 Platoon skirmish rules.

I fancied something different than eastern front so was thorn between italian and yugoslavian Partisans. Both are interesting topics, but finally decided for italian Resistenza. There are some flaws in my interpretation either regarding weapons or gear. But overall I am happy with the result. Some minor parts might be added and finishing the bases I realised that I missed one of my jump of points.

Great subject. You’ve painted those figures really well, and they all have character, brill.

;D ;D ;D Fantastic, really well done ! And just when I thought I was the only one wargaming the Italian resistance... I am really obsessed with this..

I see that we have been using quite a number of the same models! Only difference I noticed you have been bolder in using some of the Eastern European looking guys, which I shied away from as I felt uneasy about their look. But once you mix them into the group you hardly notice and they do have the scruffy look de rigueur

Congratulations for the choice and for the implementation.. fischia il vento

Ans let me add that the choice of the black and white flag reminds of my hometown Siena ! Where did you get the inspiration?

Wow, cheers guys.

Was a fun project and I learned quite a lot.

@malto cortese: yeah was challenging to source enough different sculpts, so I picked up alot of the at that time they were new. Only did some headswaps, so they look okayish for me.

Well spottet that Siena flag. During my resarch I found this website: https://www.istitutostoricosiena.it/ It was a nice inspiration, so I tributed that Siena flag and located my group around Siena.

Cheers Robin

I am even more impressed ! Thanks for the tip to Siena ;-)

I guess I should now take some pictures of my own and post them - I was saving them for the next LAF competition but what the heck...

Very nice. I was going to do something similar with partisans fighting the fascist Sola Republic forces.
Just couldn't find any good miniatures for the Sola Republic.

Great stuff. That's a lovely project. I must admit my own painting speed means I am still doing basic platoons rather then the exotic stuff.

Salò Republic? I’m sure someone did RSI troops in 28mm. Possibly Warlord.

I am pretty sure the Warlord Italian Paratroopers are late war so could pass for RSI style. And maybe some head swaps on other existing ranges.
