Last Days - Sell Me
« on: October 11, 2020, 09:10:23 PM »
I’m going to be in the process of building up 20mm dystopian/post apoc terrain, vehicles, minis, etc. I have almost 100 20mm zombies from Dark Alliance so was eyeing Last Days as one of the possible rulesets to use. Zona Alfa is a lock. However, reviews I’ve read are “meh”. It seems that zombies aren’t actually in the game that much or are much of a threat.

Can anyone speak positively to it and why it would work well for my horse of undead?

Here is my review here:

https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2019/09/review-last-days-zombie-apocalypse.html

Based on that, I think you should be able to decide for yourself if it is what you are looking for in a Zombie game.  I also have the campaign book: Seasons but I do not have a review of that up on the blog yet.

If you are after a two player adversarial game with a handful of figures each and some zombies or zombie flavour and some campaign/character progression elements then Last Days has that. It is not something that would allow you to fight a horde of 20+ zombies. Not without tweaking the rules a great deal. Zombies are slow and not overly dangerous but they are annoyingly difficult to get rid of without blazing away. All that noise may get more zombies to appear - but not hordes.

I generally only have one opponent so the progression part would have been - play a mission and both level up, repeat....not really enough story telling although that may have been a failure on my part.

I wanted to like it but I'm afraid it felt somewhat like a post-apocalypse Frostgrave. Sorry Ash.
