Because painting Vietnam War figures tends to give you a slight allergy for the colour green if not done with some temperance, I schemed to use this bit of medical fabrication as an excuse to buy a few of the magnificent Lucid Eye figures made after the paintings of the great, late Frank Frazetta.

I decided on two of his signature figures: the Death Dealer and The Egyptian Queen.

Nicely done. I have always liked Frazetta's work.

You did a really nice job on both.  The Queen would have driven me nuts.

Superb job on both figures, for me the queen would have ended in the bin!! You did a great job on rescuing a poor sculpt. :)

 I have been wanting to get these figures for awhile now.Death Dealer looks good painted up.Not too sure on the Egyptian Queen after seeing yours.Looks like a lot of work for a miniature costing £14.Will most likely get the other four figures released so far and give the Queen a miss.A shame really as the painting is really nice.

Thanks for that. I've looked several times at getting the Frazetta figures, but hesitating because they looked like they wouldn't satisfy my expectations. You confirmed that my misgivings were right.

Let me stress that I love Steve Saleh's work, but I also feel his style is not a good match to translate the iconic Frazzeta style to miniatures. And resin would be better than metal for the kind of detail they'd need.

Very nice!  I remember the old Ral Partha Death Dealer (mounted and on foot as I recall).  They were nice miniatures, but looking at what you have done with the LE one, I think it is the nicer model.

Good job on both minis, but the work you had to put in the queen is borderline. Fingerprints on minis is also a no-go.

You did a really great job with both! I am a little surprised at that fingerprint on the column; everything I have from Lucid Eye has been well-cast but that seems like more work to remove than I would be willing to do. Still - great painting and thanks for sharing!

I am a little surprised at that fingerprint on the column;

Well, that makes two of us. lol

While it is quite visible on the enlarged pictures I had not noticed it during cleaning and it didn't show up under the primer. I mainly worked wet-in-wet and with glazings on the column to create something akin to the marble in the painting and it didn't show there either. Only at the end, drybrushing the light spot on the column, did it show. I couldn't find the courage to start all over again.....
