All at Sea - Formidable
« on: October 25, 2020, 09:35:26 AM »
For most of her career the 80-gun Tonnant class, Le Formidable was a flagship in the French Mediterranean Squadron based at Toulon.

Seeing action at both battles of Algeciras in 1801 and the battles of Cape Finisterre, Cape Trafalgar and Cape Ortegal in 1805, perhaps her crowning achievement was to sail into Cadiz under the command of Captain Amable Troude, later dubbed the French Horatius by Naopoleon, to rapturous applause from a waiting crowd that had witnessed her fight off shore.

I absolutely adore your work - truly stunning and outrageously prolific.

I tip my metaphorical hat to you sir, bravo!

No dear, they are not toys, they are models

Thank you.
Well me too in away. I have a large collection of 1.1200 Langton’s which came out on the table occasionally but when I saw these models on debut at Salute a couple of years ago, I decided that this scale had a lot to offer and the detail has reinvigorated my interest in age of sail.
