Figures in Comfort
« on: November 03, 2020, 05:38:24 PM »
Does anybody know if Figures in Comfort is still a going concern? I have emailed them a couple of times with no response but their website is still up and running with a date of 2020. I am loath to place an order just in case it goes into the ether.

I need to get several more of their cases along with their pick and pluck foam tray inserts - this is to match in with what I already have, but if they are no longer around, are there any alternatives that use the stronger foam inserts? I have many Kaiser Rushforth cases and foam inserts which I use for other miniatures but their cases/inserts do not work for what I need for these particular ones.

Many thanks.

The original FIC is long gone (a pity as they were a fixture on the show circuit).

I picked up a couple of their 9 litre RUBs from I think SHQ at Colours 2018 (they had them at Salute 2019).

I ordered from them at the end of March -- they were about to shut up until Covid was over because they were unable to obtain manufacturing supplies. They just may not have re-opened again yet.

Heard a  UK news story yesterday about there being a shortage of upholstery foam .
Could be similar problem?

After some background reading; could well be.

Good grief -- I knew some supply chains were in a mess, but chemical shortages causing foam shortages causing furniture shortages... and affecting car manufacturing...!!

If we've learned anything this year, it's that too much stuff is effectively single-sourced.

(You know what's next, right? No foam in blister packs. Then where will we be? Eh? Bent swords all round...)

Thanks all for your responses - much appreciated.

The take-away seems to be that they are still a going concern (albeit but under new management?), but they have temporarily shut shop due to to Covid and the effect it has had on the supply chain.

I will try them again in the new year and see how it goes.

Well, we don't KNOW that, but if they're not answering email...

I think it was the beginning of this year or even late last year - certainly before COVID - that I placed an order with them and heard nothing - in the end I got a refund through Paypal. Don't think I got any contact from FIC during the whole time.

It is a shame as I have quite a few of their cases and foam carriers which are now full and the other manufacturers products are not the same sizes.

It seems they dissolved on the 20th October 2020 - a friend was waiting on an order and I mentioned to him today that there was a thread on LAF about them so he looked them up

The little plastic cases were super useful for things like Necromunda where you could easily and comfortably put a gang in each one.

I wonder where they got their supply from? Clearly not manufactured by them, not even the foam inserts I don't think.

Odd, the address on the web site does not match any of the officers and the first officers address matches Gaming Enhancements - maybe they can help either shed light or have access to any clearance stock.

It's a shame as the harder foam and storage cases take up a fair bit of room in my roof (and under the bed)  :'(

Ah, no.. That's Erik who used to own FiC. Gaming Enhancements is his new company -- taking over the UK Litko distribution part of FiC. The other name on there is Jules who used to own it back in the early 00s.

Try contacting SHQ as the address is the same Somerset address.
