North Star are releasing a Muskets & Tomahawks range of War of 1812 figures very soon.

Here is a selection painted by Andrew Taylor.

How soon?

And is it a law that if your name is Andy Taylor you must paint
toy soldiers very well? There seem to be several Andy Taylors
& they all seem to be very good painters.

It will be nice to now be able get the Americans for this without having pay overseas postage, and the ********ing customs and handling fees! They're very nice looking figures too. :D

They appear to be very nice sculpts. I will definitely be ordering some Americans when they are available.

Mr Taylor is painting the new Indians and Militia right now, really looking forward to seeing them. I'll post pics here when he's done.

Any chance of special characters like William Drummond with his wampum belt and pike? :)

Actually, it was Isaac Brock that was presented with the wampum belt by Tecumseh. He wore it ever after until his death. I don't know anything about a pike. Nonetheless, I agree with you that personality figures like Isaac Brock, Winfield Scott and Jackson are most welcome.

I took the plunge and ordered the two starter sets that are on sale. I also bought an additional Canadian militia set as they look like Lower Canada (Quebec) French Canadian sedentary militia.

BTW has anyone noticed that the both the British and American officers do not have epaulettes?

Kudos to North Star for producing these nice War of 1812 figures.

Drummond died at Fort Erie leading an attack with a pike; I believe he also had a wampum belt but I may be mis-remembering.

Yes, I would avoid your misremembering as it confuses the issue. It was Lieutenant Colonel William Drummond (CO of 104th Foot), not Lt.Gen. Gordon Drummond, who led the attack on the northern bastion of Fort Erie and at one point used a boarding pike in hand to hand combat within the bastion. He was killed by point blank musket ball to the head. No wampum belt here. Ref And All Their Glory past, Graves, p.94-96.

Yes... that is what I said:
Any chance of special characters like William Drummond with his wampum belt and pike? :)
Furthermore, regarding Lt.Col. William Drummond, from Shoalts, A History of Canada in Ten Maps pg. 254:
"... Gordon Drummond's distant relation William Drummond warrants particular attention... Drummond had a reputation for fearlessness; at Lundy's Lane he'd been in the thick of the action, carrying a double-barrelled shotgun and refusing to take cover when fired upon. His preferred weapon for close-combat was a nine-foot-long naval pike for spearing enemies. As a mark of the awe he inspired, allied First Nations presented Drummond with sacred wampum beads, which he wore around his neck in battle..."
