Bucking the trend! A new gaming store to open in Metro Detroit
« on: November 20, 2020, 09:54:53 PM »
A good friend of mine is going to fulfill a life-long dream of opening a shop dedicated to wargaming in all it's forms.  The store will open on 27NOV20 (Black Friday) further information (including a sneak-peek at the store)can be found on my blog; https://antonswargame.blogspot.com/2020/11/stocking-up-for-holidays-with-bastion.html

If you live in the Greater Detroit area I can promise that it will be worth a visit.

I literally live thousands of miles away and therefore there is very little likelihood that I will ever enter the store, but all the best and Godspeed to your friendīs store!

It really makes me smile that there are still specialized stores opening as in my city (Hamburg, Germany) there is only one, as I lovingly call it, "nerd store" (apart from the inevitable GW) with a very small wargaming scene. I grudgingly have to order a lot of stuff online because they don't carry it. We need stores as your friendīs because thatīs where one meets new people and communities are formed!

The photos of the store look absolutely fabulous, too! :-*

That's a brave decision, or is the idea that it gives people somewhere to hide from the sales.  :)

While I expect to be in the Detroit area at Christmas, I’m afraid that we will be in a tight quarantine bubble at the time...I wish them the best, though, and hope they are still there by my next visit.

RSDean, I understand that Tom managed to get a very good deal on the lease so he will be there for several years at least

What a classy looking store!

Best of luck to his venture - and if the appearance and prep for the shop's opening is any indication, then it deserves much success.

I’m hoping that I’ll be up that way again as soon as we’ve been vaccinated, so by summer?
