Romans for my Dacian & Marcomannic Wars Project
« on: November 11, 2020, 09:41:54 PM »
I have decided for next years major side project, I want to do a Dacian & Marcomannic wars, so I have started a new thread to track my progress. This will possibly stretch out for two years before completion.

First I will be painting a Foundry middle Imperial Roman army, followed by Dacians then Sarmations and Quadi.

I have had my Roman army for about three years awaiting paint so after seeing some great projects here it has pushed me into painting mine. So to begin with I undercoated 300 figures this week and I am trying to resist starting them before next year.......we shall see!

I plan to build two legions for Impetus/Hail Caesar, plus a similar amount of Auxillia, command and siege weapons etc I will take a photo tomorrow of the army laid out.

As a bonus in my project drawers I had a part completed Sarmation Cataphractarii from Warlord games, undercoated and base coated. The warlord figures are a bit of a pain being two parts, but that makes them poseable, which is a plus. So I pinned them into position, a bit of carving and some green stuff, then slapped on some paint. I am very happy with the result I think they look great.

first cab off the rank

cheers
Matt

Are you thinking of including Vandals as allies of the Sarmatians Matt?

Cool.   Look forward to tracking the progress.   Have you the Victrix Dacian?    I  think they're brilliant figures.
