Rambling On: Inspiration for converting Hexbot Spider toys
« on: December 17, 2020, 11:56:51 AM »
Greetings, all.

Mammoth Miniatures' thread https://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=124462.0 about their amazing Hexbot conversions has got me buying the little robot beasties at last. It had to happen.  8)

While looking about for inspiration for my own conversions from the world of Ramble, I Googled a bunch of conversions by talented modellers, and I thought I would share some of the best of what I've found here. I hope you enjoy them.

A few simple ones to start with...

Then there's this slightly Machinen Krieger example...

Inevitably, someone was sure to do a steampunk spider. (I like the wood panelling effect.)

And this is straight out amazing. This is an anime I need to see!

A servoskull? (Built on a Battlebot Tarantula from the Hexbot range.)

Hi there, from your new robot masters!

The best I've saved for last, and it is this astonishing thing; The basis is a VEX Spider, a 300+ part robot kit by the Hexbot people. I think the scale of this conversion is 20mm (1/72) or thereabouts. I am in awe.  :o

Hope you're as inspired as I am to go forth and add spidery mecha to your 'to do' list!  :D

Operating from an abandoned US spy base somewhere in the Australian outback, Miniature Martin produces games and scale miniatures set in parallel worlds, past and future. He is NOT trying to take over the Earth. This time.
