*UPDATED 13/2* 20mm Ardennes British
« on: January 25, 2021, 04:13:52 PM »
My ongoing project covering the oft-overlooked British contribution to the Bulge battles on late 1944-5.

Elements of 29th Armoured Brigade, 11th Armoured Division, and support echelons.

First up, Airfix 1/76 Cromwell, love this little kit. Marked up as 23rd Hussars, and with a commander from Foundry.

Completely mis-read the title to this, and thought why is there a snowy tank, where are the paras?

On cleaning my glasses - I like what I see, an unusual subject matter, but there was certainly a big British involvement on one of the flanks. With 11AD leaving their shiny new Comets that they hadn’t got up to speed with and reverting back to Shermans. I don’t recall if their recce Regt was shifting to Comets too, or stayed with Cromwells to the end of the war?

Cheers guys!

I don’t recall if their recce Regt was shifting to Comets too, or stayed with Cromwells to the end of the war?

That's a good point, one I never actually considered. I always just assumed the recce regts would retain the Cromwell (as it hung about in that role for years, post war), while the armoured regts would transition to Comet as a "line of battle" tank (I'll not use the term MBT...)

On the subject of everyone's favourite tinderbox, first one. PSC offering, marked up as Fife & Forfar Yeomanry. Foundry TC again.

Cheers guys! 8th Rifle Brigade HQ section (still to do the 2" mortar team andca more appropriate PIAT no.2 than the Padre; he'll be repurposed as a medic) and attendant M5 halftrack.

Figures are TQD, halftrack is PSC with an S&S canvas hood and a Bren in the pulpit mount from Sgts Mess.

These are all great..I feel chilly just looking at them.

Anything that isn't Normandy, Market Garden, or Ardennes [US] tends to get a bit sidelined.
