Astounding Tales! - it's out
« on: July 24, 2006, 11:46:40 PM »
Astounding Tales! 2nd edition was released to thunderous applause and massive sales at Historicon. OK, some exaggeration may be involved in that statement. But the vendor, RLBPS, had sold out by Friday afternoon, and I signed a bunch of them. I'm quite impressed with the print job, the cover being Very Lurid Indeed, as we must expect. :o

Here's a TMP announcement about it. http://theminiaturespage.com/news/481213/

Order it now. It will make you a magnet for the dames, I kid you not. Well, not much --H

Hi Howard,

I am reading your rules right now. I like them a lot. You have an idea if I can get them in Germany. And in case not do you know a retailer from England or the States who send them to me without a fistfull of Dollars for postage and package ?

Cheers
Björn

AT2 is currently only available from thevirtualarmchairgeneral.com for European customers.

US customers can also get it at shows from RLBPS.

You'll get them swiftly (and without ridiculous postage charges) from Patrick at TVAG. Also, the feeble state of the US dollar against the Euro will help you! H

Hi Howard,

I really enjoy reading your rules. All the small pictures and especially what you write about Germans and Rommel was a good German. Everybody knows.....

There's two answers to that. Pick the one you like best.

A) Germans are jolly decent sorts, and any misunderstandings are long forgotten.

B) We must pretend that the Germans are jolly decent sorts, because it doesn't do to get them mad at you.

I pick number one. H

I spent some time in Germany in my street musician days in the early 1980s, and have nothing but good things to say about the country, the people, the beer or the sausages.

Germans apparently appreciate a man with a battered guitar and the ability to perform blues and Elvis over the noise of traffic. Or at least, they threw money.

Also, you produce very large goalkeepers. H

I toured the Rhineland and Moselle valley, caused a traffic jam in Heidelberg with my unexpected impersonation of an old hillbilly picker (they thought I really was from Kentucky rather than Birmingham) and ended up in Munich in November, when it was getting too cold to change chords without my fingers freezing.

A couple of years later I took my American girlfriend to Munich and - despite my throwing up outside the Hofbrauhaus and falling out of a top bunk at a Youth hostel - she's been putting up with me for almost 25 years.

There were goalkeepers everywhere, as I recall.

I did notice that everyone wore lederhosen and funny little hats with feathers. Anyone who wasn't dressed that way was probably an Australian tourist.

My children's book has just been sold to a German publisher for translation. so maybe one day I'll come over to make appearances in front of 12 year olds who, er, won't understand what I'm saying ---
