Return to Cthulhu
« on: September 25, 2009, 01:08:41 AM »
About 20 years ago I had a very large collection of painted Cthulhu figures, unfortunately during hard times I sold them all for a very good price through Matakishi's shop. I have since regretted this and with the current upsurge in interest with "Strange Aeons" and "Cosmic Horror" I have decided to rebuild my collection including some of the newer figures. Creatures will be sourced from Rafm, Uncle Mike, Brigades Hybrids and Black Cat's Deep Ones. Investigators and Cultists will come from Rafm, Copplestone, Artizan, Black Cat and Pulp.
Anyway here is my first completed model, Uncle Mikes Strange Aeons Formless Spawn, My photography is not great and the shading is more subtle than appears on the photo's.

I have now started on a set of the Uncle mike and Rafm's Deep Ones and some Copplestone investigators will try to post results next week.
comment and critique welcome.

Well if you'd have waited a second ;). It's quite nice actually, though the differently coloured tentacles seems a bit off.
Everything is better with lizardmen.

I like it!!!  Nice touch with the blood running down all over it, it really adds to the atmosphere of the piece.   :D

Great flesh job (sounds like something someone would do in porn), but I agree that the different-colored tentacle looks odd.

That is a well painted model,

losing san points just looking at it.

you have got the disturbing nature of the formless thing down well, I'm not worried about th etentacle it just adds to the whole atmosphere of wrongness.

I'm pretty impressed, as others have stated the flesh is extremely well done, and I really like the job you did on the eyes myself. Kind of on the fence about the tentacles though. Not so much that they clash, but I don't know about the green though. But hey, as long as you like it that's all that counts. With all the new neat Cthulhu stuff coming out, I'm getting really tempted to dig out all those CoC Grenadier figures I've been saving all these years. Thanks for sharing.
We haul ours to kick theirs.

Lookin' good...I quite like the colour contrast...makes it look suitably rugose. (and that's a good thing...)

Very nice,  I wish there was a set of mass combat rules that one could use to augment the Call of Cthulhu Role-Playing Game.

Ummmm.... I bought 3 of these to be Formless Spawns in my gaming...

Large Chaos Beast

Gave them 3 coats of high gloss varnish to make them have that wet & slimy look.

Here's the gallery that shows the things in size relation to other miniatures of that series.

Here's the main site... dig around in there... there ar many critters that could pass for being in the Cthulhu Mythos...

Make a list and then go here to buy them.

No... I do not get kickbacks from what you buy. Just trying to help.

I hope it did help you out.
