A scenic project I have been working on of late...versatile modular terrain elements to recreate coastline /river banks with a ford. The Fords of Isen as described in Unfinished Tales would seem to fit the bill perfectly.
The whole construct is on 11 bases, with one bank steeper and more rugged than the other and a central Eyot.
Construction is very straightforward, the main contours being made up of polysterene dressed with styrofoam rock faces, covered with paper towel and filler, with poster paint and scatter material on art board.
I have hopefully made it generic enough to use it for some other periods, namely Greek War of Independence in 15mm set in Epirus/Albania and the Back of Beyond in 15mm to double as wilder parts of the Siberian/Mongolian border
