Use Viet Nam era uniform green but be aware that it fades quickly and the appearance can be striking. Rear rank rudys may wear new pants and an old shirty, two different  shades of green on the same uniform. Rank chevrons are gold/yellow and worn on the sleeve. Colorful patches on left sleeve, they will all be the same for units usually up to division. Also a narrow black tape over the figures left pocket with gold letters, "US Army" and white tape over right pocket with soldiers last name in black. Tape is about 3/4 inch wide, the white tape is the width of the pocket and the black tape is an inch in from each side, centered on the pocket.

Addenda to uniform colors, the boots are black. A buddy from about the Korean war era remembers being issued brown boots and black leather dye. Had to scrape the boots clean, as if he didn't have enough to do already on zero week.

You got me hanging. Is the beige for wool? Then no, that was an all cotton uniform in the 50's, the Eisenhower blouse, the jacket the US got from Britian, was wool, and had some beige in it, but that was out of the inventory in the '50s.

I had two uncles who served in the US Army and Air Force in the 1950's.  Searching through trunks in the attic as a kid I found old army kahki colored cotton uniforms, more beige than brown.  I used some of the shirts as a kid until they were totally worn out.  However, I don't believe kahki would have been mixed with green during the 1950's.  Use of kahki or green probably depended on location.

Private Presley seems to think tan uniforms are cool.

This is from his army service, 1958 I think, and not a movie AFAIK.

Also remember Grimm, this is post-nuclear war. The NDF is in disarray with no supply chain. They will wear whatever uniforms they have available.

Khaki uniform is the class b uniform, worn when among civilians, at situations not requiring a suit or class a uniform. For example, you wear khakis when travelling to your next duty station by civilian carrier. Khaki is not intended for combat. There are enough fatigue uniforms in a soldiers basic issue, he probably doesn't need to wear khaki because he is carrying his duffel bag with him, Operater 5. A soldier in khaki wears low quarters or oxford shoes, not boots. Khaki also calls for a tie.

Yarp. I don't know what the figures are that Grimm has, so this might be totally irrelevant. Still, hard to believe any 1950s force would be complete without an Elvis.  ;)
